David
Eccles has 30 years experience in display systems and consumer
electronics. He is an independent consultant and has helped
companies to develop new products, improve their product design
process, and enter profitable products in consumer, industrial, and
DOD markets.
Previously he was VP of Engineering for Sony’s TV
business in America in which his group was known for designing the
Sony TV’s which enabled a turnaround into a profitable business. At
Sony he had 17 years of experience in R&D, product design, and
manufacturing for various products including TV, HDTV, home
networking, digital satellite, and computer monitors.
At Hughes Aircraft Co. he did system engineering for
liquid crystal light valve projectors and air traffic control
displays.
David is the Society for Information Display (SID)
Americas Regional VP and has helped organize numerous international
conferences. He has served on industry boards and standards
committees. Dave frequently presents at display conferences and
teaches seminars on display product design, HDTV, projector systems,
and wireless networking.
He received a B.S.E.E. from the University of California
at Irvine, and did postgraduate work at Purdue University. He speaks
fluent Spanish and traveler’s Japanese.
